Jungle Book Grouping & Size Updates!

Last week, the long awaited remaining releases for the 4th Quarter 2008 were announced along with some of the Members Only offerings for 2009. Two that stood out for me were the Vultures (Members Only Numbered Limited Edition) and Shere Khan (Members Only Villains Series) from The Jungle Book.

Over the past couple years, have been dabbling in Photoshop and having fun from time to time creating my own groupings. I don't profess to be a professional at it but having fun nonetheless and it's been a great learning experience at the same time. I decided to put together a grouping of the two upcoming releases from The Jungle Book with the 2006 Villain Series release from the same film, Kaa & Mowgli. Not 100% sure if I have the sizing right but looking forward to pairing Shere Khan with Kaa & Mowgli and hopefully be able to work in the Vultures as pictured above (click on image for a larger view).

Found out some additional sizing information for Orville, Bernard & Miss Bianca from The Rescuers and Mulan & Fa Zhou from Mulan.

The approximate width (based on Orville's wingspan) is 18-1/2" for Cleared for Take Off the Numbered Limited Edition (NLE) of 750 sculpted by Ruben Procopio, slated for November, 2008.

This sculpture marks the WDCC debut of Orville and second appearance of Bernard & Miss Bianca. Orville is plussed with resin and pewter legs and the Boarding Stairway (which you can't see in this image) is separate, so that it can be moved around.

Also making his WDCC debut is Fa Zhou, Mulan's father. The cherry blossoms almost makes an umbrella over Mulan and her father in this Numbered Limited Edition (NLE) of 500 sculpted by Kent Melton, slated for November, 2008. The approximate dimensions are 8" across by 11" from side to side.

This touching sculpture is plussed with resin and pewter and features a 10th Anniversary backstamp in honor of the film's release.

Nice grouping photo! It's nice to be able to see how the pieces could look together.

And what a wingspan!!! In his own way, Orville is as large as the new Alice Sig piece. Very impressive! Though it does make finding room for these pieces on the shelf tricky.

I, for one, certainly appreciate the additional sizing info when available, so thanks for providing it. Oh, and by the way, you may want to tweak the blog entry slightly as it's Orville's 1st WDCC appearance, not Wilbur's. It's great how you put in these occasional slips just to see if we're actually reading and not just looking at the pictures. ;)

Don,
Great job(as always)with the photos. This is a perfect grouping.I think the up coming Shere Khan release really captures his coy full of himself attitude, as portrayed in the film.
I'm hoping to possibly see a prototype at GOTL in December.

Thanks Jason! It does look like they're going to make a nice grouping. From comments at the Internet Cafe, seeing them all together, has some rethinking Shere Khan.

When I heard Orville's wingspan, I was like WHOA! Orville is as wide as the upcoming Alice Signature Series release is tall! Definitely making it trickier when coming to displaying, especially when space is becoming a premium. Either way, still very excited for both pieces.

Oops! Wish I could say I intentially slipped this time but have to admit, was a typo .. LOL! Thanks for catching, all fixed now :)

Thanks Bob! Ruben definitely captured his coy/shrewd side in this one.

Also hoping both Shere Khan and the Vultures, even the Evil Queen (more out of curiousity), will all be available for preview at the Gallery Event.
