Third Quarter Teaser ]:)

As we near the end of June, it's getting closer to the announcement of Third Quarter releases from the Walt Disney Classics Collection.

Third Quarter marks the return of the Leading Ladies Series (5th in the Series). Any guesses on who that might be??

The Leading Ladies Series made its debut in March, 2004 with the release of Jessica Rabbit (2004 Spring Event Sculpture, a NLE of 5,000) from Who Framed Roger Rabbit. Jessica was followed in May, 2005 by Megara (Hercules), Limited to Production Year 2005, in April, 2006 by Pocahontas (Pocahontas), Limited to Production Year 2006 and in March, 2007 by Esmerelda (The Hunchback of Notre Dame), Limited to Production Year 2007.

We will find out by the end of this week the next release in this series but in the meantime, let the guessing begin!!

Hmmm...
Glad to see this series making a return after a brief absence.
I had a hard time coming up with something but I wonder if it will be Giselle from Enchanted!
I would really like that!
Or maybe it will be Tiana from The Princess and the Frog! Wow!

Would be happy if it's Giselle or Tiana, but wasn't this series meant to focus on other leading ladies than the princesses?
I would guess for Jane Porter

My guess is Aurora, 50th Anniversary and all

Well there is Ariel as well as a 20th Anniversary piece too. Jane as a 10th Anniversary

Koen-You make a good point. The original premise of this series was to focus on non-Princess female characters.

Pocahontas though an Indian Princess was included but then again, she's rarely ever been promoted along with the other Princesses in that branding.

As I posted on the Cafe, my initial thought was Captain Amelia from Treasure Planet, not sure why she came to mind, as I've never seen that movie, nor a character I'd be interested in .. LOL!

Matthew-Both good choices, neither came to mind. I personally would like to see Giselle (in animated form) as Mary and I both love that movie. As far as Tiana, I'm hoping she's not released until the release of the film (preferably after) as I"m not a fan of a character being released before you have a chance to embrace and get to know them.

Geoffrey-With both films having an anniversary, could see them being a possibility but truly hoping neither of them. We recently got a new Ariel with this year's NLE of her with the Prince Eric Statue and something is scheduled for 4th Quarter from Sleeping Beauty.

Hmmm, not a princess eh....well then it's gotta be Hannah Montana!

My strong guess would be Aurora (being that film's 50th) or Ariel (being that film's 20th anniversary). However, I would prefer a Giselle from Enchanted....or even a whole scene from Enchanted at some point.

As far as the rumors of a Tiana, I hope they save that release for after the film comes out. I prefer to see the WDCC focus on films already out. I don't like it when a WDCC sculpt to is released before the film is. But that is just my opinion.

Looking forward to the reveal as well as the rest of the 3rd quarter announcements.

Don, lovin the quizzical Donald; looks like he doesn't have a clue. And what's this about not having watched Treasure Planet yet??? ;)

Don't think we could go wrong with Captain Amelia, Jane or Giselle as the newest Leading Lady.

Hey Greg,

Hopefully we're just a few days away from the 3rd Qtr. announcement. Rumors seem to be flying a plenty.

Like you, hoping if something from The Princess and The Frog is being released, it's after the film's release. Not a fan when a sculpture is released to coincide with the film's release.

Based on previous Leading Ladies Series releases, I'm thinking the upcoming release will not be Aurora and/or Ariel. Jane Porter and Captain Amelia seem to be collector favorites as who they wouuld like to see be the next installment.

Hey Jason,

Treasure Planet falls into that category of films where I've tried to watch and just couldn't get into them. A Bug's Life and The Black Cauldron are the other two. Of the three, have all but The Black Cauldron in my video collection. In each case, nothing from the beginning grabbed me and/or held my interest to sit through the whole thing :(

All three you mentioned, are excellent choices for the next release in this series. I'm pulling for Jane and/or Giselle. Will be interesting when the announcement is made, how hot or cold we all were in our guesses :)
