Potential WDCC?

From JimHillMedia.com (courtesy of Jeff)

Speaking of quality ... As part of our interview, Leonard Maltin had to take a moment to talk up the next three titles in the Disney Treasures DVD Series. "First up is 'Oswald the Lucky Rabbit,' " Maltin continued. "This two-disc set will feature several newly restored versions of these black & white silent cartoons. Some of which will now have an full orchestral track while others will feature just organ accompaniment. This DVD will also include Leslie Iwerk's great documentary, 'The Hand Behind the Mouse,' about her grandfather Ub Iwerks.

"Also included in this "Disney Treasures" release is the oft-delayed "Disneyland: Secrets, Stories and Magic" as well as "The Chronological Donald -- Volume 3." The latter will include intriguing extras like a featurette that documents Donald's many cameo appearances in feature films as well as an interview with noted Disney character sculptor Ruben Procopio, who will demonstrate how you take a two-dimensional character like Donald Duck and change him into a 3D sculpture.

Hmmm ... Wondering if we could see the debut of Oswald the Lucky Rabbit and a new Donald Duck joining the line in the near future?

Personally, I would very much welcome an Oswald piece. There is so much history associated with that character that paves the way for the Mouse that we ALL love, I think it would be a great tribute. It would go along well with all the other black and white WDCC pieces.

Putting aside any legal issues there might be with licensing Oswald, I bet there are some collectors who would disagree with me. I'm sure there are some people that might think where to draw the line (no pun intended). For example, if you did Oswald, then why not something from the Alice Comedies or Gertie the Dinosaur (even though Walt had nothing to do with that).

Anyway, I hope WDAC/WDCS/WDCC continue to release more obscure characters, scenes and magical moments, because that's what keeps the line (and our curio cabinets!) fresh!

Bring on Oswald! (And I wouldn't mind another Duck either) :-)

Knowing you're such a fan of the Mouse, glad to see you wouldn't mind another Duck :) Guess I need to cut the Mouse some slack now ;)

Regarding Oswald, I seriously hope the WDCC plans to include him as part of the line in a future release.

Remember, It All Started With a Mouse (though that phrase is usually associated with Mickey Mouse). The WDCC used that phrase when the line originated using the Field Mouse as it's first release but Oswald was truly the first mouse, therefore truly deserving a place as part of this line that truly captures the Disney characters at their finest!

I do love more than the Mice. But speaking of "first Mice", what about something with Mortimer? That would be another character who doesn't get a lot of recognition these days, but who played a key role developing the characters of Mickey and Minnie.

Great suggestion Tim! Until you mentioned him, I had forgot about him.

Would you like to see a new scene consisting of Mortimer, Mickey and Minnie or a stand alone of Mortimer?
