Cleared for Take Off!

A message in a bottle from Penny, a kidnapped girl, is found by the Rescue Aid Society. Two of its members, a hesitant Bernard and the elegant Miss Bianca set out to rescue Penny. They are aided by various animal inhabitants of the Bayou where Penny is being held and a comical albatross named Orville.

"Cleared for Take Off" a Numbered Limited Edition of 750, sculpted by Ruben Procopio depicts Bernard and Miss Bianca all fastened in and ready for take off! Scheduled for a November, 2008 release.

Trivia: Orville, voiced by actor Jim Jordan, would have appeared again in the sequel had he not passed away. In the sequel, Rescuers Down Under (1990), Orville was given a brother Wilbur (voiced by the late John Candy). The names are a play on the famous Wright Brothers. A third Rescuers movie was planned for 1996, but after the death of Eva Gabor (voice of Miss Bianca), this and all future Rescuers movies were scrapped.

Below is a short clip (courtesy of YouTube.com) showing Orville, Bernard and Miss Bianca as they prepare for Take Off:

Glad to finally see this piece and to be able to purchase. The wingspan is huge. Just remember not to take it out of the box by its wings. After seeing it, I don't think it would have been as impressive if it was made smaller. Great job Ruben.

Totally agree Jeff. To capture this moment properly, it needed to be in the size that it was done.

Was interesting to hear Ruben discuss the sculpture, mentioning they thought of doing it smaller but if they did, Bernard and Miss Bianca would have been lost in the sculpture, being almost like miniatures.

Glad they went the route they did. I believe the wings measure approx. 18-1/4" and liked the added touch of the staircase not being attached, giving us the opportunity to be able to display however we like.
