A New NLE Unveiled in the Upcoming Sketches!

Unveiled in the upcoming Sketches, is a Numbered Limited Edition (NLE) from the epic live-action film, Swiss Family Robinson.

Shipwrecked on a deserted island, the resourceful Robinson family sets out to boldly turn a bad situation into a glorious escapade by building the most wonderful treehouse ever seen. This remarkable sculpture features living quarters with removable roof and detailed furnishings within.

The Swiss Family Robinson Treehouse was sculpted by Larry Nikolai, a NLE of 750 with a SRP of $225.00. The Treehouse is plussed with 11 resin components, 32 metal components and string.

The Treehouse like previous Enchanted Places releases, includes an engraved brass nameplate on the base which was not included on the bases of the Cave of Wonders (2006) and/or the Old Mill (2007). The Treehouse is slated for an October 2008 release.

You can also join the Swiss Family Robinson Treehouse Discussion at the Duckburg Cafe.

I tell you... WDCC is making me smile every quarter!

This one is a real winner. I love the detail on the sculpt... special kudos to Larry.

Do you know what this kind of reminds me of? Pooh's house from early in the Enchanted Places line... and I loved that piece tremendously!

With so much to do..WHY would they do this "enchanted Places" Piece..

Hi Matthew,

In total agreement Matthew. Larry did an amazing job.

As I mentioned on the Cafe, was totally surprised with this one. Some of my favorite Enchanted Places releases were the Woodcutter's Cottage, the White Rabbit's House and King Louie's Temple. This sculpture as you compared to Pooh's House, has all the detail that made Enchanted Places so unique.

I'm reminded of some of the verbage when Enchanted Places were first released:

"The Walt Disney Classics Collection celebrated these unforgettable settings with Enchanted Places, beautifully crafted sculptures that recreate the worlds where the magic unfolds."

Yes, this also reminds me of King Louie's Temple which was one of my favorites!

Glad to have these types of releases back... even though it's only about one every year.

With this release, it gives hope that they may finish the remaining Princess full sized Enchanted Places. I was so disappointed when they only did the last three as ornaments and not full sized pieces. It would be so great to see the other three in full sized pieces as they add so much to the sets.

Hi Geoffrey,

The closest to full-size being available of the remaining three castles was the Sultan's Castle. A full-size prototype was available as part of the Silent Auction of the 2003 Celebration of Walt Disney Art Classics Convention.

It mentioned at the time of the auction, the Sultan's Castle was created as the final release of the Enchanted Places but never found it's way to market :( There was no mention of Snow White's Castle or King Triton's Castle.

Since the Castles being completed is a discussion that continually comes up, I created two polls over at the Duckburg Cafe :)

I'm loving this treehouse. I like that you can lift of the top of the main hut. Very cool. Think this was a very interesting piece to do. Didn't do any checking, but is the movie at an anniversary year?
Although it doesn't look like the one in Adventureland at the Magic Kingdom, I think it will work great with other theme park releases.

I took wish for the other full size castles. I'll take the poll later. I'm still looking for Sleeping Beauty's castle so if anyone knows of one that isn't jacked up in price, please let me know.

Thanks Don for getting the photos up so fast.
It's a great piece with lots of detail.Cudos to Enesco for a total surprise.I guess I will be adding this to our collection.

Hey Jeff,

No, not an anniversary year. Swiss Family Robinson was released in 1960.

The sculpture is based on the movie version of the treehouse. As you said, even though not based on the theme park attraction, no reason that it wouldn't fit in with other theme park releases.

Regarding Sleeping Beauty's Castle, be careful. There was a lot of problems with this one with the spirals and breakage. This is one I'd be afraid to purchase via eBay. Would want to purchase where you can see the sculpture in person and be able to hand carry home. JTDO.

You're welcome Bob! It does seem like Enesco took many by surprise with this one.

Mary really likes this one a lot, so see it be adding to our collection as well. It appears this piece could do quite well.

This movie brings back some great memories for my family and me. I think it's a great piece and out of the ordinary.

I think I'm finished shopping for my parent's big Christmas gift this year!

Hey Tim,

That will make a cool Christmas present. I like when the sculptures in our collection have special memories and/or good times associated with them.

Since scheduled for an October release, am hoping it's in the parks when we're back down there later this year to see in person.

Very impressed from the pictures thus far!
