Disney Interactive Releases New Trailer For "Disney Princess: My Fairytale Adventure"

Players Will Enter The Kingdoms of Classic Disney Princesses: Cinderella, Rapunzel, Ariel, Belle and Tiana

BURBANK, Calif. – April 17, 2012 – Disney Interactive today announced the development of “Disney Princess: My Fairytale Adventure,” a new interactive journey from the globally successful Disney Princess franchise. Slated for release this fall, the video game will be available for the Wii™ system from Nintendo, Nintendo 3DS™ hand-held system and Windows PC/Mac. In the game, players will find that a spell has been cast over the beloved Princess worlds and will need to use their magic wand to help Cinderella, Rapunzel, Ariel, Belle and Tiana restore peace and bring “happily ever after” back to each kingdom.

“The collection of Disney Princesses featured in ‘Disney Princess: My Fairytale Adventure’ have continued to timelessly captivate and charm audiences,” said Javier Ferreira, senior vice president of publishing, Disney Interactive Media Group. “This new game will allow fans of all ages to enter the worlds of favorite princesses while experiencing iconic locations such as Beast’s castle, Rapunzel’s tower and Cinderella’s ball.”

In “Disney Princess: My Fairytale Adventure,” players will take on the role of an apprentice to the Fairy Godmother and will accidentally set off a series of events that cause friendly Sprites to transform into mischievous Imps. The evil Imps make their way into the worlds of Cinderella, Rapunzel, Ariel, Belle and Tiana, and players must pursue the Imps into each Princess kingdom to prevent them from causing any harm. With the use of their magic wand, they’ll need to turn the Imps back into their original Sprite form, and return them to their rightful home in the Magical Kingdom.

Each of the Princess worlds will allow players to explore and interact with familiar Disney characters such as Lumiere, Pascal, Flounder, Gus and other fan favorites who will help guide them through missions and progress though the game. Quests and mini-games, including platforming, hide and seek, and puzzles, are designed to test the skills of the youngest players and challenge older players alike.

Players can also customize their avatar and room in the Fairy Godmother’s Castle, utilizing gems that are earned throughout the game to trade for items in the in-game “Wishing Well” store. Outfits, accessories and tiaras can be purchased to dress up avatars, creating hundreds of different combinations. Special items like floor patterns, wallpaper and furniture can be used to personalize and build out each player’s room in the Castle.

Action-Adventure Video Game Inspired by Upcoming Disney•Pixar Fantasy Adventure Film to Launch This Summer

BURBANK, Calif. — (March 19, 2012 ) – Disney Interactive Media Group announced today that “Brave: The Video Game” is currently in development for PlayStation®3 computer entertainment system, the Xbox 360® video game and entertainment system from Microsoft, Wii™ system from Nintendo, Nintendo DS™ handheld system and Windows PC/ MAC.  Inspired by “Brave,”  the upcoming Disney•Pixar animated fantasy adventure movie, the video game invites players to run, jump and battle their way through the rugged landscape of mythical and mysterious Scotland. By using their wits and bravery, gamers will also be able to wield a sword and bow to defeat fierce enemies, break a magical curse and save a kingdom. The video game will release summer 2012, in conjunction with the film.  

A third person action-adventure, “Brave: The Video Game” expands the tale beyond the movie’s storyline. Gamers can play as Merida, an expert archer and heroine, and in the console versions, players can also play as other entertaining characters from the film.  In addition, they will be able to go on quests through a magical world and solve puzzles to uncover secrets. 

“We’re excited to offer a compelling game across multiple platforms for fans of the upcoming Disney•Pixar film ‘Brave’. The console versions of “Brave: The Video Game” offer a variety of gameplay, including single-player, co-op for family and friends, and a special Bear mode, where players will be able to play as a bear. Several new opponents created exclusively for the game will challenge the player throughout the experience, culminating with an ultimate boss battle to complete the adventure. The Nintendo DS game is filled with its own exciting missions and a myriad of characters to engage single players.

ABOUT THE MOVIE

Since ancient times, stories of epic battles and mystical legends have been passed through the generations across the rugged and mysterious Highlands of Scotland. From Disney and Pixar, a new tale joins the lore when the courageous Merida (voice of Kelly Macdonald) confronts tradition and challenges destiny to change her fate.

“Brave” follows the heroic journey of Merida, a skilled archer and headstrong daughter of King Fergus (voice of Billy Connolly) and Queen Elinor (voice of Emma Thompson). The film takes aim at theaters on June 22, 2012, and will be presented in Disney Digital 3D™ in select theaters.

L.A. Freeway Traffic Was "Dragon" Yesterday!

In preparation for the opening this July of D23 Presents: Treasures of the Walt Disney Archives at The Ronald Reagan Presidential Library and Museum, the massive head of the fire-breathing “Maleficent” dragon from the Fantasmic! nighttime spectacular at Disneyland Park was transported by truck from Disneyland Resort in Anaheim to The Ronald Reagan Presidential Library and Museum in Simi Valley, traveling on Southern California freeways yesterday.

The Maleficent fire-breathing dragon from Fantasmic! measuring 15 feet long, 9-1/2 feet high and 6 feet wide was transported around 6:00am departing from Disneyland Resort by truck, fully visible to motorists. Scheduled arrival at the Ronald Reagan Presidential Library in Simi Valley approximately at 8:00am.

Upon arrival, media at the Reagan Library were able to see the unloading of the Maleficent Dragon from the truck and its placement into the exhibit hall.

The Maleficent Dragon will be one of the largest pieces on display among more than 500 items from Disney's to be installed as part of D23 Presents Treasures of the Walt Disney Archives, a new exhibit opening July 6th at the Ronald Reagan Presidential Library, curated by the Walt Disney Archives and hosted by D23: The Official Disney Fan Club.

April Showers bring May Flowers and this year's Spring Premiere Event sculpture of Tinker Bell ("A Splash of Spring") did just that!

This weekend is the Event weekend (May 4-6) in the US and Canada (International Event weekends may vary). The latest installment in the Seasons Series depicts spring. 

The one thing that caught my eye from the first images available, I like how the sculpture depicts the weight of the rain on her wings, angled down vs. upright as we're used to seeing them and her facial expression as she holds out her hand and looking upward. The base is probably one of the most elaborate bases we've seen in a while with the plussing of the pewter grass and water drops, giving an actual splash effect as the raindrops hit the ground. 

A Numbered Limited Edition (NLE) of 1500 sculpted by Jacqueline Perreault Gonzales is the sixth release  in the Disney Artist Series and third release in the Tinker Bell Seasons Series.

Tinker Bell is plussed with pewter grass, pewter water drops, pewter hair ribbon and a bronze daisy stem.

WDCC Announces Retirement & Sold Out Status on Two Recent Releases!

The Walt Disney Classics Collection has announced today the retirement of Chip 'n Dale from the animated classic, Working for Peanuts (1953).

"Determined Duo" sculpted by Bruce Lau was released as an Open Edition release in October 2005.

As a retired sculpture, the piece will not return to the line in the future.

Also announced was the Sold-Out status of two recently released sculptures, Ariel and Sebastian from Disney's The Little Mermaid (1989) and Donald Duck from the animated classic Hawaiian Holiday (1937).

"He Loves Me, He Loves Me Not..." a Numbered Limited Edition of 1,500 was sculpted by Jacqueline Perreault Gonzales and plussed with four pewter flowers and a bronze Sebastian.


Hawaiian Holiday Donald is a NLE of 750, sculpted by Jacqueline Perreault Gonzales.

On Friday,  from the creative “Forces” at Disney Parks, Lucasfilm, and Walt Disney Classics Collection, they announced the upcoming release of Donald Duck as Darth Maul during Star Wars™ Weekends.  Donald is the 2nd release in the Star Wars Series joining Jedi Mickey (pictured above), an Open Edition release, released in September 2010.

The Official Disney Fan Club Showcases the Largest-Ever Exhibition
of Iconic Props, Costumes, Artwork and Artifacts from the Walt Disney Archives

BURBANK, Calif. – April 16, 2012 – D23 PRESENTS TREASURES OF THE WALT DISNEY ARCHIVES, which encompasses more than 500 historic artifacts from nearly nine decades of Disney history, opens at the Ronald Reagan Presidential Library & Museum on July 6, continuing through April 2013.

Presented by D23: The Official Disney Fan Club and The Ronald Reagan Presidential Foundation and Library, D23 PRESENTS TREASURES OF THE WALT DISNEY ARCHIVES is the largest exhibition ever curated by the Walt Disney Archives, at 12,000 square feet. From Oswald the Lucky Rabbit and Mickey Mouse to Captain Jack Sparrow and Captain America, the exhibition features more than 500 artifacts, at least half of which have never been seen by the public— including models, props, costumes, set pieces, and artwork from throughout Disney history.

“Ronald Reagan and Walt Disney were longtime friends, two optimists who shared an unwavering belief in the essential goodness of the American way of life,” said Bob Iger, chairman and CEO, The Walt Disney Company. “We’re proud to partner with the Reagan Library and the National Archives to showcase Disney’s rich entertainment legacy. This extraordinary exhibit will offer visitors an unprecedented look into Disney’s history and celebrate the connection between these two American originals.”

Among the extraordinary items to be featured are:

·        The original script, written by Walt Disney, for Mickey Mouse’s film debut in 1928’s Steamboat Willie;

·        A faithful recreation of Walt’s formal office from the Walt Disney Studios in Burbank, Calif., including original furnishings and many of his personal items;

·        Hand-drawn artwork and hand-sculpted models used in the production of some of the most beloved Disney animated film classics ever created, including Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs, Pinocchio, Fantasia, Bambi, and Sleeping Beauty;

·        Props from classic Disney live-action productions, including Mary Poppins, 20,000 Leagues Under the Sea, The Absent-Minded Professor, The Shaggy Dog, Babes in Toyland, Bedknobs and Broomsticks and more;

·        Breathtaking props, costumes, and set pieces from recent Disney classics, including the Pirates of the Caribbean films, Tim Burton’s Alice in Wonderland, TRON: Legacy, National Treasure and Captain America;

·        Intricately sculptured busts of all 44 U.S. Presidents that were created for Audio-Animatronics^® figures seen in the The Hall of Presidents attraction at the Magic Kingdom at Walt Disney World Resort;

·        A salute to Disneyland and the Magic Kingdom at Walt Disney World, showcasing theme park artwork, Audio-Animatronics^® characters, memorabilia and authentic attraction vehicles  

The exhibition also pays tribute to the long personal friendship and professional collaboration between Walt Disney and Ronald Reagan, which began many years before President Reagan’s political career.

On July 17, 1955, Ronald Reagan was one of the co-hosts of ABC Network’s live coverage of the opening of Disneyland, and as governor of California, he frequently visited Disney’s first theme park. After leaving the Oval Office, one of his first public events was a return to Disneyland, where he officiated at the park’s January 1990 35th-anniversary celebration, proclaiming it “one of America’s national treasures.”

“Walt Disney and Ronald Reagan shared a passion for America, a belief in the human spirit, and an innate optimism that, in both men, galvanized the public,” said John Heubusch, executive director of the Ronald Reagan Presidential Foundation. “President Reagan was a great admirer of Walt Disney, and we are tremendously proud to host this wonderful exhibition of Disney treasures, and to honor the bond between Walt and President Reagan.”

Review: Airborne Amigos

Those Three Happy Chappies have Landed!  For me, it was fun following their journey, awaiting in anticipation their arrival.  From hitting the shores of the U.S. (after being at sea for approximately 45 days) to arriving at the warehouse, then being shipped to retailers and finally descending to land on my front porch!

This was a sculpture I've campaigned for many years and not only appreciate WDCC/Enesco putting up with my constant 'reminders' but following through with such an amazing sculpture!  The sculpture captures the brilliance, emotion and bold (and vivid) colors of the film.  I am personally pleased that they went with the serape as the base for the sculpture and gave the sculpture such a sense of motion.

Something I didn't pick up in the photos was how Panchito was painted. I like that they went with a shinier finish on his clothes and a more matte finish on his body.  It makes his jacket and trousers really stand out.  

Plussed with pewter spurs on Panchito and a pewter ribbon on Donald’s hat, this muy grande sculpture embodies the fun and fiesta spirit of this animated carnivale of animated delights.

The Walt Disney Classics Collection announced today the Sold Out status of Captain Hook from the recent Spring 2012 Announcement!

'Silver-Tongued Scoundrel,' a Numbered Limited Edition (NLE) of 500 was sculpted by Patrick Romandy-Simmons and plussed with bronze (Captain Hook's sword and moustache) and pewter (Captain Hook's hands and sword hilt).

Join Figment on an expedition into breathtaking wonder and towering imagination!  Creativity is a never-ending adventure, and this intrepid, little dragon is the personification of that all-too-human quest to push the boundaries of the possible and discover uncharted territories of magic and dreams.  

Recreating the memorable moment in “Heights of Imagination” in which Figment scales the summit of a snow-capped peak,  this new numbered, limited edition of 500 Walt Disney Classics Collection sculpture captures the daring mountaineer at the apex of his  creative powers.

Based on original attraction reference, Figment is hand-crafted of fine porcelain, hand-painted, kiln-fired and provisioned with real rope, metal flag pole and flag, and metallic paint on the pick axe.
