Dancing Aurora & Phillip Suspended Today!

The Walt Disney Classics Collection has suspended effective today, Dec. 12th, the Dancing Princess Aurora and Prince Phillip (blue version), A Dance in the Clouds.

Dancing Aurora and Prince Phillip made their debut, as an Open Edition in 1997. When initially released, the Dancing Blue Version was a darker blue in coloring (actually had a bluish-purple hue to it) and then later released in a lighter blue coloring (like the photo at right). An in-depth discussion can be found in an earlier blog entry, Dancing Aurora & Phillip: Make Her Blue!

Special Note: Suspension means that the item is currently sold out at the warehouse and there is no anticipation to re-order at this time. Please contact an Authorized WDCC Dealer and/or the Theme Parks for availability.

  1. Wow, I didn't think I'd ever see any of the dancing couples suspended or retired! This was a big surprise.

I wonder if we are in for a LOT of retirements/suspensions this year.

  2. Hi Matthew,

I too was surprised with the suspension of the Dancing Aurora and Phillip, especially with next year being the 50th Anniversary of Sleeping Beauty.

I thought the Dancing Couples (specifically Cinderella, Belle & Sleeping Beauty) would be staples in the line.

  3. I was also surprised to see that they suspended a dancing couple but it makes me wonder if it does have something to do with the upcoming 50th anniversary. Hopefully it's a sign of something new coming and this is being done to make room for it.

  4. From the hint in Sketches last fall, it appears there will be a commemorative piece to honor the films 50th Anniversary. Wondering if sales on this particular Dancing Couple has slowed down, inventory drew down, so they decided to suspend for the time being vs. retire?

Speaking of the hint in Sketches, while at the Gallery of the Lakes signing event, we asked Traci a question regarding the hint, based on everyone's assumption the hint referred to the Spinning Wheel sequence and how they would handle the green tint on Aurora.

We were told that wasn't the moment being hinted too and sadly, no hint or clues as to what moment they will be doing for the 50th Anniversary :(
