Do you think there will be anymore title scrolls produced ?
ReplyDeleteHi Brian,
ReplyDeleteTruly hope we haven't seen the end of the opening titles.
I for one am still hoping we'll yet get one for Hawaiian Holiday and The Princess and the Frog.
I consider the titles essential for a display. I always have at least one title (more if my pieces for a particular film/short are spread out in different displays) if available. When the recent Brer Fox/Brer Rabbit scene was released, I sought out the retired film title to display with the set.
ReplyDeleteI hope the titles continue for as long as WDCC is available!
Hey Matthew,
ReplyDeleteAs mentioned to Brian, hoping we'll see more Opening Titles done in the future and not something as they retire and suspend those currently in the line, it will be the last we see of them.
Like you, I have at least one title if I have something from that film or short and multiple titles in those cases where I have a film showcased in different display cabinets.
When I recently purchased my new curio and was finally able to display my 'Fury Unleashed' Beast with Maurice, I immediately ordered a 2nd title to display with them.
Keeping fingers crossed we'll yet see one from The Princess and The Frog and Hawaiian Holiday.
I emailed Enesco inquiring about tittle scrolls and this is the reply they sent me:
ReplyDeleteThere are currently 30 different Walt Disney Classics Collection Opening Title Plaques in-stock and available to authorized Walt Disney Classics Collection retailers. While we periodically we “Suspend” Opening Title Plaques when they sell out (which creates a scarcity to make the item more collectible, particularly when there is not a currently available corresponding scene in the active line) only rarely do we “Retire” a plaque. You might be interested to know that some of the most popular Opening Title Plaques are “On Alert” with extremely limited quantities including scrolls from Peter Pan, Beauty and the Beast, Nightmare Before Christmas, Lady and the Tramp, Dumbo, The Lion King, Toy Story, and The Rescuers. While we have not introduced any new Opening Title Plaques since the Mickey’s Christmas Carol (just recently Suspended), we have not retired the plaques as a format. If new introductions from films we have not previously created plaques for (i.e. The Princess & the Frog, Up, etc.) prove to be popular we would certainly consider adding an Opening Title Plaque, particularly if there is interest by retailers and collectors.
Hi Brian,
ReplyDeleteThanks for the follow-up with Enesco and posting their reply. Very much appreciated.
Am glad I picked up my 2nd Beauty and the Beast title and given the status of Peter Pan, needing a 3rd of that one, better start searching one out.
Encouraging for films with no title, especially The Princess and The Frog, given sales seem to be doing well with releases from this film, we could hopefully yet see an opening title.
Thanks Again!
I would love to have a title for every movie. Some movies will probably never be represented (Home on the Range) so I would atleast like a scroll to represent the movie.
