One of the Walt Disney Classics Collection first releases when it was introduced in October, 1992 was Bambi and Flower (the skunk) in the flowers when they first met. Flash forward eighteen (18) years later, the Walt Disney Classics Collection introduces a new sculpture of Bambi and Thumper in the meadow.
Ever enthusiastic and eager for a special treat, Thumper is in clover as he explains to best buddy Bambi that the best way to feast upon a forest repast is to gobble the blossoms and leave the reens. Good thing the young Prince of the Forest has such a beguiling guide to the marvels of their woodland home.
It’s no wonder that upon first seeing the animation of these two unforgettable characters, Walt Disney proclaimed them to be “pure gold.”
"Just Eat the Blossoms. That's the Good Stuff!" sculpted by Jacqueline Perreault Gonzales is Limited to Production Year 2010.
Many thanks to Jacqueline for this wonderful new Bambi piece!
ReplyDeleteThe detailing and color are amazing. I love the blossoms.
Hey Matthew,
ReplyDeleteThis has always been my favorite moment in the film, the interaction between Bambi & Thumper regarding the blossoms.
I think to date, much like Jaq and Gus, the best representation of Bambi and Thumper. Jacqueline really captured both of them perfectly! Their facial features and coloring are spot on!
This is one of the few Disney films I saw as a child (re-release, not original release ), so have a really soft spot for this film.
At first I was like "Huh, why they do this?", but then after looking at it, it is really cute. I'm definitely adding this one to my collection. After all, both of my kids had a Bambi nursery before graduating to Disney Princesses and Pixar Cars!! LOL
ReplyDeleteHey Jeff,
ReplyDeleteTalking to Ray today, he mentioned this sequence has been quite popular over the years as far as 2D goes, so he wasn't surprised they would visit in 3D.
When comparing to the single sculpt release of Bambi & Flower from 1992, hard to believe it's been 18 years since that sculpt was released. In comparing, noticed how much this version of Bambi is truer to both the character and film in appearance and coloring vs. the original release.
