The Dwarfs marching across the log is the Ninth (9th) release in the Signature Series. Plussed with eighteen (18) pieces of pewter for tree roots, six (6) pieces of pewter for pick axes, brass wire lamp handle, one (1) piece glass frame two (2) pieces on the tops of trees are resin. A Numbered Limited Edition (NLE) of 750 it is scheduled for a Fall 2009 release.
One interesting thing to note is the color application -- the sunlight is hitting one side of the Dwarfs and log in the film so the paint technique fired onto the sculpture recreates this shading.
This year's Signature Series release was sculpted by Patrick Romandy-Simmons who also sculpted the First (1st) Signature Series release in 2000, the Numbered Limited Edition (NLE) of 1,937 Soup's On (the lost moment) also from Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs.
This is a marvel to look at from any angle. The level of detail is amazing. Truly a piece worthy of the Signature Series!
ReplyDeleteIt's one of my favorite scenes from Snow White and now it's in WDCC form.
Thank you!
Matthew
The detail is so complex! Love it. I have no idea where some say this line is dead! There is no way it can be with stuff like this! Awesome!
ReplyDeleteJimi
PS Don look I'm bloggin' with you!
All I can say is this isn't a home run, it's a grand slam.
ReplyDeleteWOW..... the detail is amazing.
I love all the sig series pieces but the Lost Soup Scene has always been one of my favs and this rivals that one.
As Matthew said this piece is worthy of the Signature Series label.
We are so looking forward to adding this to our collection.
Bob
I agree with all the comments made concerning the piece but the sad thing is once again WDCC is duplicating a movie already released. There are enough scenes throughout all of the Disney vault of selections not to duplicate a movie already released in the Signature Series. As a person who owns every piece in the entire WDCC line, this really becomes frustrating.
ReplyDeleteI think the dwarfs on the log sculpt looks great from the photos. Can't wait to see in person. While the soup scene is an amazing piece, that was not a scene in the actual movie. And with Snow White there are so many iconic images that can be worthy of a signature scene. The dwarfs on the log is definitely one of those images that stay in people's memory.
ReplyDeleteI don't have one piece from Snow White! Its funny how a great piece makes me want to go back and start collecting other Snow White pieces I've passed on. I don't know why but, this piece has really ignited my passion for WDCC again! Bravo and thanks for a true classic!
ReplyDeleteWONDERFUL, AMAZING, AWSOME, ASTOUNDING, SUPERB, DELIGHTFUL...
ReplyDeleteI could go on for a long time praising this piece.
Tony
ABSOLUTELY LOVE THIS PIECE!!!!!!
ReplyDeleteMy guess for the Signature Series this year was the Dwarves at the foot of the bed. I wasn't too far off I guess!
The detail on this sculpt is truly amazing. I can't wait to see it in person, and certainly can't wait to own it!!!
WDCC is alive and well and continues to produce amazing sculpts!!!! Thanks for a great
3rd Quarter!!!!
Matthew-This year's Signature release reminds me of last year's (and 100% worthy to be called a signature moment. No matter how many times you look at it, there is always something new to see and each angle is Amazing! Hat's off to Patrick for another amazing job!
ReplyDeleteJimi-Nice to see you blogging again buddy! Have received many emails this weekend from past collectors who have gotten re-energized from this latest announcement. Totally agree, this line is far from dead! A second hat's off to the Enesco Team for bringing such great releases to us collectors!
Bob-Perfect way to describe this release-a definite out the park, grand slam!
Geoffrey-What other film/signature moment would you like to see done? Wouldn't hurt to start giving them hints/ideas for next year!
Some of us tried guessing prior to release and which films haven't had a signature release .. Dumbo and Lady and the Tramp being two we discussed. One that Matthew and I would like to see done is the burning building from Dumbo with the Clowns.
Babs-Excellent point. Even though the 2nd signature release from Snow White, the first was a lost moment and this is the first release from the final film.
YourGhostHost-Which past releases does this release have you considering? Soup's On, the original Dancing Scene and Snow on Horse with Prince are my favorites of past releases from this film.
Tony-Being such a fan of this film, can only imagine how excited you must be!
Toni-Can still see them doing the moment you described. Maybe not as a signature release but at least as a future NLE release.
I have wanted this piece done by the WDCC for YEARS! Luckily the WDCC exceeded my expectations with this release. Within just minutes of seeing the pictures of the new Signature Series release I was on the phone with my dealer reserving one!!! So now it time to save my pennies until it comes out!
ReplyDeleteGreg-From what I've heard so far, you're not alone. Many immediately contacted their dealers upon seeing the images! Haven't seen this much excitement over a Signature Series release in some time!
ReplyDeleteWow wow wow. Love this piece. Cannot wait to add this one to my collection. The detail is amazing like everyone has said. It is truly a signature moment.

ReplyDeleteAs far as other Signature Pieces, the muses from Hercules, Ray with all his pupils from Nemo, A scene from Cars, Home on the Range, A scene from Jungle Book to include secondary characters, A scene from Tarzan to include his mother and father ape as well as Janes father, I could go on and on... While I agree with everyone's comments on this piece I just wish that the duplication over and over of pieces would not happen quite so often, we now have 5 different sets of dwarfs and the 13th snow white.
Great suggestions Geoffrey! As I don't have anything from Hercules (I'm in BIG Trouble with Jeff on that one), tend to forget about the Muses.
ReplyDeleteMr. Ray with his Pupils is one that Matthew and myself have been campaigning hard for years to see done.
'All in the Golden Afternoon' from Alice in Wonderland, the Burning Building with Clowns from Dumbo are two others I'd like to see done. Quite possible these could be done in NLE editions outside the Signature Series brand.
Do agree there has been a LOT of Snow White released over the years but it seems to have a strong following from what I've gathered from those dealers I've spoken with.
This edition, I feel, is going to sell out at the Disney Warehouse before being released to the stores. At 750 edition, this great looking scene is going to be gobbled up. Cannot wait to get it. Only problem now is display-ability. At 24 inches wide, 13 1/4 inches tall and 10 inches deep, I don't have a place for it yet. If I have the width, I don't have the height. Ugh. I've already ordered and cannot wait to add it to my collection. Then I'll worry about displaying it.
ReplyDeleteThis year's Signature Series release, the Dwarfs on the Log from Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs has started to appear at authorized retailers.
ReplyDeleteReceived the following assessment of the sculpture and unpacking tips"
It is AWESOME. I think it's my favorite piece or at least a close 2nd to Soup's On. The forest detail and the log itself is incredible. You can really see the upended root structure of the bottom of the tree and there are multiple protruding roots and hanging moss not as evident in the previous photos.
No breakage so far. Biggest problem is you have to be Houdini to get it out of the box without snagging the roots or mushrooms that hug close to the side of the styrofoam, with your fingers. Need 2 people and one with great eyes.
Outstanding, absolutely outstanding... really easily matches the original value of Soup's On in presentation, engineering, and sculpting.
Size Update: Spoke with Ray today, He measured the sculpt for height, measuring the tallest point and it measures 11" vs. 13-1/4" as previously stated when the sculpture was announced. The other dimensions he agreed with.
ReplyDeleteWanted to pass along this information for anyone where height could be a problem from a display perspective.
