"Down the Rabbit Hole" is a Numbered Limited Edition (NLE) of 500, sculpted by Dusty Horner (this marks Dusty's 4th Signature Series release!) making it's debut in December, 2008. This sculpture also marks the WDCC debut of Dinah, Alice's cat, a much requested character by WDCC collectors.
The sculpture is elaborately plussed with pewter and resin and boasts 84 components and one of the tallest WDCC sculptures to date at 18-1/4" tall (Whoa!). The sculpture also includes a Signature Card, hand-signed by Kathryn Beaumont, the original voice of Alice.
Below is a short clip (courtesy of YouTube.com) leading up to and showing Alice as she falls down the Rabbit Hole:

Oh my gosh, this is a fantastic piece. There is so much detail. Even the outside of the hole is interesting. I cannot believe how much detail there is. And it boggles my mind how Alice is just floating down. It's hard to see where she is attached. And I really looked!! Great job. Love it. And I already have it. #10 Whoohoo! Kathryn really loved it and couldn't stop talking about it. I love Dinah at the top. The little tail sticking up. Very cute.
ReplyDeleteWas totally blown away when I saw this one in person. It is one of those sculptures, you can sit/stand and study for hours, due to the amount of detail in this piece.
ReplyDeleteDusty did an amazing job in capturing Alice floating down the rabbit hole. As you look at the sculpture, you know that each Alice has to be attached but it is sculpted in such a way, she appears as if she's actually floating down and not attached at all.
Dinah peering down the Rabbit Hole is adorable and like how the fireplace opening you can see thru vs. it being solid.
Jeff, also loved hearing Kathryn talking on how it was accomplished when she did the live-action model of the scene for the animators, being in a harness, to capture that actual movement of body and clothing.
Glad WDCC took the risk in creating this sculpture, it is truly a wonder to behold!
