Greetings from WDW!

Hi All -- Greetings from WDW! Our trip is off to an awesome start. We did have a delay in getting our room but was so worth the wait -- we're right on the waterway from Old Key West to Downtown Disney, an awesome view!

WDW really made all Mothers feel special yesterday. We had lunch at Olivia's and every Mom received a carnation, a very nice touch. As each server passed a table, they wished the Mom a Happy's Mothers Day.

We chose Boatwright's for dinner, since we never have spent time over that way. We took the boat from OKW to Downtown, then took the boat from DD to Port Orleans. Was a beautiful evening for a night on the boat. We had a great boat captain, Grant. We really enjoyed the boat ride to the Port Orleans area and seeing those resorts (French Quarter and Riverside) for the first time from that view. The Riverside Resort (formally Dixie Landings) buildings are beautiful! The facade had a very Gone With the Wind look to them.

We docked and headed to Boatwright's for dinner. Impeccable service and a great meal. As like at Olivia's, each Mom was presented with a carnation as well plus a cup of corn chowder made especially for Mom by their Chef. Mary said she couldn't have asked for a more special day.

We headed down to DD after dinner. I was able to see Frollo for the first time in person. Much larger than I anticipated and very detailed. Patrick did an awesome job. Will definitely be adding this one to my Festival of Fools Scene. Found some really cool Cars items at the World of Toys that were a must have .. LOL! My only disappointment, not seeing the Mickey Pretzels. Hoping these haven't been discontinued. Our chex mix will never be the same :( Will be keeping an eye out for them today.

After we docked, took a nice leisurely walk back to room. What a perfect start to our trip!

Heading off to Magic Kingdom tomorrow and then over to Disney Hollywood Studios after lunch to check out Toy Story Mania .. can't wait!

Until my next update ....

  5. Geoffrey-Glad you're enjoying the blog entries! Was great recapping our first day. Will help when we put together a dvd once home. You're going to have an awesome time with the kids in Oct. Definitely take them to Mickey's Not So Scary Halloween Party. They'll enjoy trick or treating and you'll get some great pictures of them with some of the characters in Halloween costumes.

Jason-Very cool Cars tub toys. A 5-pack featuring Lightning, Mater, Luigi, Sheriff and Red. Red is SO cool! He is what sold me on the set. Also picked up a cool No Parking Sign featuring Mater and Lightning, which I plan to hang in my garage.

Tony-Didn't see Snow today while at Magic Kingdom but will be sure and say hi for you when I do and let her know she has a huge fan in the UK! :)

Matthew-No sign of the Mickey pretzels in any of the parks we were in today. Chex mix without Mickey pretzels, just won't be the same :(
