Happy Anniversary Roger!

Who Framed Roger Rabbit, the 1988 film produced by Amblin Entertainment and The Walt Disney Company (released on its Touchstone Pictures banner) blends both traditional animation and live action is celebrating its 20th Anniversary in 2008!

Based on the novel Who Censored Roger Rabbit?, the film is set in a fictionalized version of 1947 Los Angeles, where animated characters (always referred to as "Toons") are real beings who live and work alongside humans in the real world, most of them as actors in animated cartoons.

In honor of it's 20th Anniversary, the Walt Disney Classics Collection is releasing a two-piece sculpture featuring the film's star, Roger Rabbit! The two-piece set consists of Roger Rabbit and a Base which will allow collectors to either display Roger on the base, off the base or without the base. Two Bits! is sculpted by Jacqueline Perreault Gonzales.

Previous Who Framed Roger Rabbit releases can be seen in the Who Framed Roger Rabbit Gallery section of the website and also participate in Roger Rabbit Poll at the Internet Cafe.

  1. Wow! This one is fantastic! I'm blown away every time there are new releases!

I can't believe it's been 20 years since this great movie has come out, and this piece is outstanding! (No pun intended since you can display with or without the base) Speaking of which, love that bonus feature.

Can't wait to add this Roger to the others. Looking forward with great anticipation to Baby Herman and the Weasels!!! (Hint! Hint!)

  2. You may find this hard to believe (oh, no you won't .. LOL!) but finally saw Who Framed Roger Rabbit for the first time about 5 years ago.

I took that hint and ran with it straight to the Cafe and set up a poll. Now I need to revisit the film, get to know the characters so I can vote! LOL!

  3. This is a fantastic piece. I love that Roger has just burst out of the opening title of one of his cartoons! Great idea, WDCC!

I loved "Who Framed Roger Rabbit" and would love more pieces of the animated characters from this film.

  5. This is a great sculpture. I love the base idea. Benny actually looks good with this one. I will go over to Duckberg and do the polls.
    Hopefully baby Herman will follow.
    Please please please WDCC.

  6. Don, 5 years ago... Really? LOL!

Love the poll idea; definitely wanting to see more from this film and the Roger Rabbit shorts that followed it.

I'll echo the other's comments and say this is a fantastic piece! The base idea is great and like how they took different moments/scenes from the film to create a release that works well together. You've got Roger from the "Shave & a Haircut" bit, the opening logo of the Maroon Cartoons, and you can see Roger's similar outline when he bursts through a window in RK Maroon's office in the film.
