One of the sculptures making its debut will be the 5th release in the Pirates of the Caribbean Series, Pirate on the Archway Bridge: "A Parrot's Life for Me!" (11-1/2") sculpted by Ruben Procopio with a SRP of $250.00. This is Ruben's second release in the series.
He also sculpted Pirate with Pigs: "Drink Up Me 'earties!." The Pirate with Pigs is the 4th release in the series making it's debut May 22-25, 2007 during the WALT DISNEY WORLD® Resort Pirates of the Caribbean: Adventures on the 7 Seas Lagoon special event.
Registered guests of the Pirates of the Caribbean Adventures on the 7 Seas Lagoon had first opportunity to make Wish List requests for the Pirate on Cannon: "Peligro, Explosivos!" This arsenal scene with the Pirate on Cannon (Mr. Coote) appears at Disneyland® Park and some other Pirates of the Caribbean attractions at other Disney Theme Parks around the world, but not at WALT DISNEY WORLD® Resort. Limited quantities will be available at this special signing!
The Pirate on Cannon (9 ½" Height x 13" Length x 8" Base Width) with a SRP of $350.00 US is also sculpted by Ruben. This is Ruben's 3rd Release in the Pirates of the Caribbean Series. Ruben was also the Concept Artist on Pirates with Pigs, Pirate on Archway Bridge and the Pirate on Cannon. He is also the Concept Artist on the upcoming Jail Scene with Dog, sculpted by Tim Bruckner.
For anyone in the area this is a great opportunity not to be missed!

I love the WDCC because everyone can find something special that perhaps rekindles some memories or enhances their experiences.
ReplyDeleteThis series is not for me, but I can definitely appreciate its artistry.
As for "JTDO," you had really stumped Michael and I Don! We got a chuckle out of that!
Thanks for the all of tonight's info!
~Cheryl
Hi Cheryl! You've truly defined what collecting is and should be about -- "everyone can find something special that perhaps rekindles some memories or enhances their experiences." That is probably why I've always taken the glass is half full vs. half empty approach.
ReplyDeleteThe Pirates of the Caribbean Series has turned out to be a great series. Had the opportunity to see all the pieces displayed together this past May and it's quite impressive. Of course this is JTDO :)
Should have an updated image shortly of the Pirate on Archway Bridge that shows the hair on his leg and dirt on his foot which isn't showing in the current prototype photo plus understand there could be another opportunity to see the upcoming Jail Scene, which is the final release in the series at this weekends signing.
Don,
ReplyDeleteI'm with Cheryl on this series. It's not something I'll be getting but the pieces are beautifully done and I'm glad that they're generating such interest for the collection.

"Arrr Mateys!" The Merchandise Services dept. at Disneyland is now taking phone orders for the "Pirate on the Bridge" figure. $250.00 plus around $30.00 for shipping. The phone number there is 1-800-362-4533. There are no guaranties on the backstamp or whether the piece is signed. I was informed that some stock pieces were to be signed. I'm rather optimistic on the backstamp.
ReplyDeleteAs far a the "Pirate on the Cannon" goes, I was also informed that any extra pieces from the event at Disneyland were to be shipped to Walt Disney World.
Thanks for the update Dugout!
ReplyDeleteBackstamp? I thought it would have the Skull with Crossed Sword Backstamp as with previous Pirates of the Caribbean releases. Not aware of a special backstamp.
Appreciate the additional information on the Pirate on Cannon. It's my understanding that all pieces will arrive at Walt Disney World® Resort by October 31st and shipment will begin the following week. At least that is what I was told when I confirmed my Wish List request.
Hello Duckman and Company; The "Pirate on the Bridge" figure arrived from Disneyland today. This figure is simply amazing! Some may consider it a "guys" piece, but the details from the pirates hairy leg, to the candle in the lantern are just incredible. Disney definitely scores high on quality and creativity with this release!
ReplyDeleteWas there something mentioned earlier about the lines on the pirates socks not lining up? Or was that the Maurice figure? anyway.
Also, at this point I'm missing the "Pirate" figure "Fire at
Will". Does anyone have an opinion or review on this figure?
Thanks!
Thanks for the review Dugout! Much appreciated!
ReplyDeleteI haven't seen the final sculpt but was told it was detailed like the ride counterpart with a hairy leg and soiled foot. Thanks for confirming that.
This has truly turned into a great series and as you said, a lot of attention was paid to detail. I do not have "Fire at Will" but possibly someone who does, will comment.
You are correct, Maurice was the sculpture where the socks did not line up in the first run of production.
