A Sweet Send-Off!

Walt Disney's Masterpiece Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs celebrates its 70th Anniversary this year! The film premiered on December 21, 1937 with a wide theatrical release by RKO Radio Pictures on February 8, 1938.

In honor of its 70th anniversary, Walt Disney Classics Collection released this special sculpture featuring Snow White and Dopey.

"A Sweet Send-Off" (6-3/8") sculpted by Kent Melton is an Open Edition release with a SRP of $199.00 US and bears a 70th Anniversary Backstamp.

Snow White and Dopey began to ship last week and started to arrive at authorized dealers this week.

  1. This piece captures one of the charming moments in Snow White, and I'm sure it's going to be a popular one.

Are there going to be any other anniversary pieces? Perhaps something that could tie in with the 2008 Membership piece? (It's not that far off to start guessing!)

  2. Haven't heard of any other releases from Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs to commemorate the anniversary.

Fun and Fancy Free celebrates it's 60th Anniversary this year and to commemorate that anniversary, we have the upcoming new scene from Mickey and the Beanstalk. As mentioned in a previous blog entry, this scene will not bear an anniversary backstamp.

Two other classics celebrate anniversaries this year as well, Bambi (65th) and The Jungle Book (40th).

  3. I'm not sure about this piece. Face looks great on both, and it is a sweet moment. But i'm bothered with Snow's Skirt. It seems to straight. Have to see this one in person. Don't get me wrong i like it, but i think the skirt is off (this is a first time... usualy mentions the face is off LOL)

I am so glad they released a piece to commemorate another milestone Aniversary of the film.

  5. Hi Koen,

The skirt seems similar to the Soup's On version, more straight vs. full.

I have the stained glass of this moment and her dress does appear fuller in that and shorter.

It's been some time since I've watched this on DVD, looks like time to revisit and pause this moment.

  6. Hi Tony,

I thought you would be happy about this release :)

My guess, the backstamp will be scripted as with past anniversary backstamps.

  7. I've watched the dvd and you see Snow white only from the waist up (or maybe a small part of the skirt)
