Festival of Fools!

2007 is seeing a new scene release from Disney's The Hunchback of Notre Dame! The scene made it's debut in March, 2007 with the release of Esmerelda ("Bewitching Beauty"), the 4th release (and rumored to be final release) in the Leading Ladies Series. Esmerelda was sculpted by Kent Melton and Limited to Production Year 2007.

When Esmerelda was unveiled, collectors were given a sneak peek at
Quasimodo ("King of Fools") and Clopin ("Harlequin Host"), scheduled for 3rd Quarter 2007 plus an Opening Title. Quasimodo, Clopin and the Opening Title are all Open Edition releases. Quasimodo and Clopin were sculpted by Tony Cipriano.

Very excited about this new scene, one that has been much requested by collectors. Hoping they all do well and we'll see more characters added such as Phoebus, Frollo and Djali.

Quasimodo has arrived at authorized dealers on schedule but there seems to be a delay in Clopin and the Opening Title. It looks like they will be arriving at dealers in August.

  1. I LOVE my new Quasi!!! Soo happy they finally did him. Love the detail in the piece down to the hairy arms. His face is also spot on! Great job by Tony Cipriano!

He now sits right near my PC at home so I can look at him and smile. Quasi was truly a great Disney character.

  2. I love this scene. So far i've only got Esmeralda, but will make it complete.
I hope they make it a big scene and ad Phoebus, his horse, Djali, Frollo and the gargoyles

  3. Agree Babs! Quasi is truly an awesome character and always felt the film was underrated.

Tony Cipriano did an awesome job on both Quasimodo and Clopin! Truly hope more characters from this film are in the works.

Koen, like you, only have Esmerelda so far (I should say, I have her on order along with the Opening Title). Quasi is next!

  5. It seems WDCC has a winner in this new scene release from The Hunchback of Notre Dame! Each character perfectly done!

Frollo being added would be the icing on the cake.

  6. My Festival of Fools scene is almost complete! Within the past two weeks, Quasimodo, the Opening Title and Esmerelda have arrived. Clopin is the only one I yet need to order.

This grouping is amazing! As Michelle said, the detail and coloring are amazing. Kudos to Tony Cipriano! There is so much detail from the hair on his arms to his hair underneath his crown. When you compare this version of Quasimodo to the Tribute Series version, there is no comparison. This sculpture so captures the character and personality of Quasimodo.

Esmerelda is simply stunning! Really like the sultriness in how her head tilts toward her shoulders and the total sense of movement in the overall sculpt. Also like how she's painted, especially the darker coloring/shading in the folds of her dress. She looks awesome with Quasi!!

The coloring of these characters really makes this scene pop!

Keeping fingers crossed these pieces are doing well. Frollo is all that is needed to finish it off :) OK, maybe Phoebus, Djali and some Gargoyles too!
