The hint was given in response to a readers question if there are any plans on releasing a sculpture of the Snowflake Fairies? The response was as follows:
"Although we currently have no plans to release a sculpture of the remaining 'seasonal' sprites, we've heard from many collectors how much they enjoy the earlier releases, so we are keeping these fanciful characters in mind for a future release.
In the meantime, as a Fantasia fan, you may want to keep your eyes open for a soon-to-be-unveiled sculpture featuring two characters from Walt Disney's "Concert Feature" who have never before been featured by the Walt Disney Classics Collection. It's too early to announce exactly who these characters are but once we do, we're sure you'll feel like celebrating!"
Let the guessing begin!
Any new Fantasia is GREAT! I'm excited to hear that something new is coming!
ReplyDelete(Although I still want to have the snowflake fairies! And the Milkweed Ballet... and the Arabian Fish... LOL!!!)
Don't know Fantasia that well so who is in the concert feature? I do hope they reconsider and do more of the fairies. They are the best.
ReplyDeleteAwesome! My favorite film!
ReplyDeleteFor the two character sculpture, my guess would have to br
A) Bacchus & Jacchus from the Pastoral
or B)the dinosaurs battling from the Rite of Spring
I totally agree with Michael that it has to be Bacchus and Jacchus, which I've been asking for years that they make!
ReplyDeleteOkay, maybe it's wishful thinking, but the clue about "celebrating" has to make it those two. Bacchus was the Roman god of wine and revelry.
As for your question, Jeff, Fantasia orginally started out being called "The Concert Feature" by Walt as the working title for the entire movie.
That's our history lesson for the morning! :-)
But I'm super excited about any Fantasia piece.
I say campaign whenever the opportunity presents itself Matthew .. LOL!
ReplyDeleteLike you Jeff, am not overly familiar with Fantasia. Given this latest hint in Newsflash, need to pull that film from the archives this weekend and check it out!
ReplyDeleteMichael & Tim,
ReplyDeleteFrom your postings, seems Bacchus and Jacchus makes the most sense. Even though not familiar with the sequence am familiar with Bacchus from Fantasia Gardens Mini-Golf at WDW :)
Thanks for the history lesson Tim!
Don and Tim,
ReplyDeleteI have to agree with you the it is Bacchus and Jacchus. Not being familiar with the film, but know from Spectromagic and Fantasia Gardens like Don. Celebrating seems to have given it away.
Duckman,
ReplyDeleteBacchus & Jacchus both appeared in the "Beethoven's Pastoral" sequence of Fantasia, which to me is probably one of the weakest sequences in the film. Fred Moore & Ward Kimball were the main animators on them.
I did see Bacchus at Fantasia Gardens. It's probably one of my favorite (& most challenging) holes on the course. I can't wait to go again!
I'm pleased with the news of any new Fantasia pieces. I can't wait to see what these new pieces will be.
