Clarificaton of Pirates of the Caribbean Backstamps!

There has been some confusion on how the Auctioneer & Redhead and Pirate with Pigs are to be backstamped.

There should only be one Pirate logo backstamp on the Auctioneer & Redhead as well as the Pirate with Pigs. 500 sculptures each for the event have the Event Logo Backstamp (pictured above with sculptures). They do not have the skull and crossed swords Pirates logo. The Open Edition pieces will have the skull and crossed swords Pirates logo.

To help keep track, below is how each of the Pirates in the Caribbean Series releases thus far are backstamped:

Helmsman Pirate - Skull and Crossed Sword Pirate Logo

Captain of the Wicked Wench - Skull and Crossed Sword Pirate Logo

Auctioneer & Redhead - 500 sculptures will debut at the event with a Special Event Backstamp (pictured above). The remaining edition will be available with the special Pirates of the Caribbean backstamp (Skull and Crossed Sword Pirate Logo).

Pirate with Pigs - 500 sculptures will debut at the event with a Special Event Backstamp (pictured above). The remaining edition will be available with the special Pirates of the Caribbean backstamp (Skull and Crossed Sword Pirate Logo).

  1. Thanks Duckie!! I was under the assumption there would be both backstamps. Now you can clearly tell who got part of the 500 allocated for the convention! Mucho appreciated.

  2. As I recall when the Helmsman Pirate was first released, the skull & crossed swords logo was only to be on the first, I want to say, 1500 pieces produced and pieces after that would no longer feature the logo. Has that changed to where all pieces made until retired will now feature the logo? I'm asking about all the pirate pieces, of course, not just the Helmsman.

  3. The first 1,500 sculptures of each open edition piece will bear the skull and crossed swords Pirates of the Caribbean logo backstamp, essentially the first production run.

There is the possibility for each of the open editions that they could be retired with fewer than 1,500 sculptures produced.

The Pirate on the Cannon will be a low limited edition as will the Jail Scene with the Dog.

  4. Thanks for clarifying how many sculpts will feature the skull and crossed swords logo backstamp, Don.

Also, appreciate the additional bit of info on the Jail scene; didn't realize it was to be a low limited edition as well. It's definitely the Pirate piece I want most of all, so hope no problems in securing one. Already wondering just how pricey it will be considering the size and complexity of it, and now it's a limited edition to boot! Of course, right now I'm hoping no problems in getting one of Mr. Coote.

  5. I agree with you, Jason. I'm thinking that the Jail Scene may be the most popular piece, with the Red Head and Auctioneer coming in a very close second.

I'm fearing the low limited edition size as well, so perhaps the price will factor in how quickly it sells. So I'm guessing the Jail Scene will have Skull and Crossed Swords logo since it hasn't been released yet.

For those of you who went to the Convention, you said it was a big scene. Is there another piece you can compare it to so we have an idea?

  6. Tim, it's about 3 or 4 inches taller than the Pinoke Sig Series (which would make it about 13 or 14 tall) and it's about 12 inches wide. Take my word for it, it's huge!

  7. I confirm Michelle's assessment. The Jail Scene is going to take up more space than Geppetto's Workbench. So much for shrinkage :)

  8. Wow, that is big. Thanks for the information. Did I read somewhere that they are only doing eight pieces in this series? Does that mean the Jail Scene is last?
